Week 9 Game Reports

Carolina (6-2) @ Seattle (3-5)

The Seahawks hosted their NFC opposition knowing defeat was not an option. However, you would not have guessed that based upon their 1st half performance where they failed to even breach the Panthers' red zone at all. Meanwhile, for Carolina, Cam Newton did what Cam Newton does best. He used his feet and intelligence to get out of trouble and set his team for two field-goal attempts, both of which were successful. To their credit, this Seattle team despite their offensive struggles were able to defend reasonably well and keep Newton and his Panthers out of the end zone to keep the scoreline just 6-0 going into the Larry Ridley Half-time show.

HALF-TIME: Carolina 6 - 0 Seattle

I'll be honest... Larry's Half-time show didn't last long due to lack of highlights from the 1st half! However, Seattle's HC must have said some positive things at the break as it wasn't long before the Seahawks were finding some rhythm and getting up the field into enemy territory. Suddenly, a TD pass from Wilson to Willson sent a wave of relief through the home fans. The 12 nation had something to cheer at last! With the home side now in the lead for the 1st time, Cam Newton rallied his team to score a 3rd Field-Goal of the game to make it 9-7. From this point onwards the Seattle offence and defence showed some clutch qualities by scoring another TD pass to Baldwin, a pick-6 from Bobby Wagner and remarkable 5 sacks from LE, Charles Johnson. Cam Newton threw a further two interceptions to allow Seattle to run down the clock and claim a vital victory.

FINAL SCORE: Carolina 9 - 24 Seattle

*Madden 18 didn't actually give me any highlights when I went through the events from the game. Not sure if it's something I'd done or just the lack of big moments in the game?!*

This has happened several times. tru and I had an OT cracker week 1 - and when he went to do his report, absolutely nothing. Obviously EA didn't rate the excitement of the game as much as we had.

Pittsburgh 9-7 Cleveland

The Browns blew a chance to blow the AFC North wide open when they fell at home to the visiting Steelers.

A couple of FGs had put the Steelers 5-0 ahead before Isiaih Crowell forced his way into the end zone to give the home team a slender lead. Pittsburgh regained the lead when they added a 3rd FG after a Bradford pick that was so far off target it was laughable.

Bradford then threw another pick in the end zone when Coach Dawg had a "Pete Carroll" moment and Pittsburgh never relinquished possession to close the game out, despite having the inconvenience of starting from their 1 yard line.
