Re: Week 1 Game Reports

Pittsburgh 23-28 Cleveland

An exciting opening day encounter at FirstEnergyStadium saw the Browns rally from a 1st quarter 14 point deficit to top the visiting Steelers.
Early TDs from Antonio Brown, followed quickly by a stunning 95 yard run from Chris Sims III, who started after Pittsburgh sensationally traded star RB Le'Veon Bell to Tampa Bay before the start of the regular season.

But the Browns hit back in the seond quarter, courtesy of 2 Corey Coleman touchdowns, to send the teams in level at the break.

The 3rd quarter saw the visitors edge ahead again, courtesy of a Chris Boswell FG, before a short pass from Kessler to Gordon was followed by a 2 yard run by Crowell to put the Browns in control. Yet more was to come, as Big Ben got to work and found Brown again on a 2yard score with 3:01 remaining. Pittsburgh had to go for 2, but William Gay, traded just the day before from the Steelers to the Browns, picked Roethlisberger off. It was a redemption of sorts for Gay, who was flagged for a 15 yard personal foul call on the opening Steelers' TD drive.

Kessler managed to get the necessary 1st downs to see out the clock, although there was one scare when Crowell fumbled in the Pittsburgh half with 59 seconds to play, but fortunately the Cleveland o-line managed to clear up and retain the ball.
It was also noteworthy that former Brown Joe Haden made his first pick in a Pittsburgh uniform, which didn't please the home crowd.

Falcons vs Bears

Post by Dargok on Mon 18 Sep 2017, 10:15 pm

Atlanta Falcons   26
Chicago Bears    13

It was an ugly day for Turnovers as Matt Ryan was picked off 3 times.  The Bears went with the Rookie Trubisky and all he could muster up was 4 picks of his own.  Considering the completely ineffective Bears Offense it was a miracle that the game was held fairly close until the Falcons finally pulled away in the 2nd half.

The Falcons were able to pile up some long drives in the 2nd half while the Bears managed to put out a paltry 95 yards through the air and an absolutely horrid 12 yards on the ground for the entire game.

Rushing Yardage
ATL: 70,  CHI: 12
Passing Yardage
ATL: 219, CHI: 95

Offensive Player of the Game:  Devonta Freeman, RB with 82 total yards, 2 catches and 1 TD.
Defensive Player of the Game: Dezmen Southward, SS with 2 INT's and 1 TD.

This was a Tense game ,In end Patriots when they had possession pretty much scored quickly and then used clock well to stop Chiefs getting on Offence with Duo Kelce 4 catches 35 yds and speed freak Hill who saw 1 catch. 25yds

Patriots D managed to do what they set out to do,Try get turnovers and turn into points Which O did quickly .

Game started with Hunt fumble, Recovered and turned into points.

Chiefs stopped 3 times on 3rd down in FG range which they missed 2 of 3.

Chiefs then benched Smith and went with Rookie Maholmes ,who did ok but also learned what he needs to work on.

Brady literally had nothing to do all game due too most time chiefs had ball because quick scoring O and Kick Retutn TD, when he did try chiefs D put him down.

Brady 4/5 37 Yards 1 int
Maholmes 17/29 195 Yards 2 Int

White 19att 119 Yards 2Tds (GAME BALL)
Hunt 17att 88 Yards Td

Chiefs D
Ford LB Pick
Houston and FA pick Dixon sack each

Patriots D
Hightower huge FF with Devin Recovery
Flowers 2 Sacks
FA pick Revis 2 Interceptions

Honorable mention  FA pick Agnew Returns 103yd KO Return and patriot had 2 first downs all game compared to chiefs double Figures

Good game Vl,D and O just did enough .

Chiefs will def bounce back next week vs eagles i have no doubt ,while patriots travel to Saints

26 passing yards? Has Brady had his arm amputated or something?
