Wildcard Reports

Lions 0 - 24 Falcons

The 10-6 Lions ran into a hot 8-7-1 Falcons defense in the wildcard weekend round, as the NFC South champions quenched Detroit's offense from the start.

Atlanta's D picked off Matthew Stafford three times in total. The first on a tipped pass that CB Calvin Craft plucked out of the air early in the game as Detroit were nearing Atlanta's redzone. The second was by rookie CB Lawrence Janis as he jumped a crossing route over the middle and the third a poor read from Stafford who did not see LB De'Vondre Campbell drop into zone coverage. The last two picks came in Detroit territory late in the game.

On offense, WR Dezrick Church led the way for Detroit with 6 catches for 73 yards, with little to no running game in support. On the other side, RB Tevin Coleman was the game's MVP with 11 carries for 154 yards and 1 TD, adding one reception for 24 yards also.

Atlanta opened the scoring when Coleman burst off a long 68 yard run to the house, and added a Dylan Breckner FG, a QB sneak from Lee Roth and a well executed scramble drill from Roth passing to Austin Hooper in the back of the endzone.

Atlanta move on to play either Minnesota if Dallas beat NYG, or San Fran if NYG beat Dallas
