Week 14 Game Reports

Post by GBDawg1 on Wed 01 Feb 2017, 10:10 pm

Indianapolis 23-27 Cleveland

A strange game at FirstEnergy Stadium saw the visitors blow a 17-0 lead to come out on the wrong end of the battle of the basement boys.

In the first quarter it was all Colts, with a fumble return TD from RE Langford and a 79 catch and run by rookie Douglas Mayo to put the visitors in command. Cleveland couldn't get anything going and their o-line was giving no protection to Blake Bortles, who ended up getting benched in Q2 after a poor throw. A Dimke FG had extended the lead and only 2 late scores late in Q2, courtesy of a Parkey FG and Pryor TD after a Luck fumble reduced the deficit to manageable proportions.

Indianapolis extended their lead in the 3rd quarter when Williams rushed outside for a TD, but Dimke missed the PAT in what was to become arguably the key moment of the game, as the Browns hit back with scores from Gordon and Pryor (again) followed by another Parkey FG which put the home team 4 points ahead.

But the drama wasn't over as Duke Johnson Jr, who had a day to forget in a season to forget, coughed the ball up to give the Colts a last chance to salvage the game. Luck marched his charges downfield at what seeemed like pedestrian pace and the final play was a surprising run call to monster RB Karlos Williams Sr, who just about got stopped shy of the goal line to end what was a fairly meaningless encounter.

Tennessee Titans @ Houston Texans

It was all over when: Tony Romo scrambled in on 3rd and Goal from the 6 with no Receivers open on the opening drive of Overtime, which had begun with a Romo 54 yard PA bomb to Will Fuller.

Key Stat: 207 yards and 8 receptions for Will Fuller who had to carry the show with Miller's fumbles and a lack of DeAndre Hopkins

Game Ball awards:
MVP: Will Fuller. 8 - 207. Stopped 6 yards short of a 80 yard touchdown as well.
Houston: K.J Dillon. A forced fumble into his own endzone of Derrick Henry got the ball back for the Texans when all hope was lost.
Tennesee: Austin Sefarian-Jenkins with 5 catches and 98 yards. Was always open as the move TE on diagonal routes, including one that all but ended the game.

Noteworthy: 3/3 Field Goals for both Kickers in a tight battle.... The Titans forced 4 fumbles, 3 from Lamar Miller.... An opening play glitch resulted in an immediate fast forward snap where Romo was hit, sacked and fumbled within half a second!.... 358 yards is a season high for Tony Romo, whereas 27 yards for Lamar Miller continues a run of 3 games where he is yet to reach 100 yards combined.... Each team had 3 turnovers with Mariota intercepted twice and Romo once....

Final Score

6-7 Tennessee Titans 23 - 29 Houston Texans 9-4

Good Luck for the rest of the season @fraff, a very tight AFC Wildcard race awaits!
