Divisional Game Report.

Post by Epone on Wed 23 Nov 2016, 7:13 pm

Oakland Raiders @ Kansas City Chiefs

Raiders move on; defense swarms struggling Chiefs offense. Final score 23-10

The game was a complete turnover fest from both sides - 6 interceptions were forced and 6 fumbles were forced. If you like old school, hard-nosed, smash mouth football then this was the game for you. It was full of crushing hits, superb defense and ultimately timely mistakes which led to one side capitalising and converting to points

One of the key stats I will take from the game is the average yards per attempt for each quarterback. They had near-identical throwing attempts (31 for Carr, 33 for Smith) yet Carr averaged higher in his yards (8.1) as opposed to Smith (5.4). Oakland's ability to stretch the field that little bit more led to more first down conversions (13) than the Chiefs (11) and their third down conversion rate was also higher (53%) than the Chiefs (33%).

Oakland's game ball went to unheralded cornerback D.J. Hayden (remember that name?!) with 5 total tackles, a sack and a forced fumble in the fourth quarter which killed the momentum the Chiefs were starting to gain on offense.

Thanks for the game Chiefs!
