Things Madden should bring back

Post by patriotscpfc on Tue 5 Apr 2016 - 18:37

Now, everyone loves a good list thread.....

What features (be it gameplay, Franchise or anything else) that have been in previous series should be brought back?

I'll start with this:

1. Man Align. Being able to choose which receiver will be followed by which defensive player. So, when there are 2 receivers on one side, your #1 CB can follow whichever receiver you choose. It was such a simple thing that I've no idea why it was removed!

The use of the right analog stick for pass rush moves, the X and square buttons are too easy and don't have the feel the analog had Sad

Progression instead of XP.

Get rid of stupid drive goals.

Minicamp pre-season drills (anyone remember those?)

More post-game information available, such as times of scores.

The Radio show (Bruno?).

With the power of the PS4, I think the whole game should just be better! Better presentation, more crowds animations, names of players on the back of their shirts when they are on the sideline!!!

Most of all, i just want improvements to franchise mode, better FA, a more realistic offline mode which is playable, just little things like RFA and compensation picks (they existed on ps2!), a better build up to the draft and big parts of the season, just make the game more realistic!

And Bruno the radio guy made the game feel better, along with the local/national newspaper they used to have! The twitter feed is good and more modern but i used to love the stories they used

vision cone i loved a lot.

showed the difference between great QBs and bums as no other.

also was a big fan of the weapon atttribute they used to have.
also showed the real difference between elite players and bums tbh.
A guy like ray lewis for instance had high PRC which made it so that if someone was calling the same play a lot , it would start to show up pre snap after like the 3rd time it was called.

would quickly solve people not mixing it up and actually place more value on veteran players with high PRC.

That slow but veteran safety with high PRC like charles woodson would be worth gold cause he would diagnose all passing plays after a while if it where the same plays.
now he is the first guy to get cut lol.

I liked the player character attributes on Madden 06 which affected other players. A player with a high leadership characteristic would give teammates a small boost. Or you'd have to decide whether bringing in a star player with an attitude problem which could potentially cause issues with the rest of the team. Or there were 'media darlings' who owners and fans loved and you had to tread carefully around. Never liked the cone thing though, Tru- made playing multiplayer with mates on same console impossible as it gave away where the pass was going. Agree with you on 'weapons' though- similar to what I'm referring to, although when they brought them in it was a watered down imitation of Madden 06's stuff.

I also liked the depth of 'Superstar' mode- none of this Connected rubbish. Your player had an active backstory to the extent it gave your family background, you did the combine drills (including Wonderlic), you did interviews which changed team/fan/teammate perceptions of you, could develop your 'brand' with commericals and cameos in films. In modern Madden it's: play game, rinse, repeat and just gets boring.

I blame Ultimate Team and the proliferation of trying to get kids to spend their pocket money on in game crap for taking up game company's (of which EA are the WORST) focus.

i found it great.

AWR for instance actually played a big role  then.

Low AWR meant a small cone while high AWR meant you saw the whole field.

actually made it worth investing in it.

right now you can have a 51 AWR QB and still do good lel.

Think with total control passing cone wont work.

Apparently defensive assignments they are trying to put it back but coverage logic seems to be a sticking point.

I enjoyed cone as like tru said awareness actually played a part.

Like someone please explain what hell the personality rating does?

It is GM mode feature. As I know personality directly affects incomes from jersey sellings and all this stuff

Just remember the score ticker they used to have, showing "latest scores" of other games. Mind you, back then I played it on the PC (wish they would bring back a PC version) and there was no such thing as CCM then so all the games were effectively "played" at the same time.

this.

especially first one and the second will follow. I still believe it is possible to develop system that do not force people to abuse stats in a sake of skills growth - to find a balance in the "office" part of game. Several years ago training system was a joke - this time its not a funny joke as training doesn't influence players skills growth at all.

Re: Things Madden should bring back

Trash this game an restart from scratch. That is my wish. They will do nothing more than offer more GIMMICK features to get kids and still kids get excited while dumping out the same trash filled game full of errors that are embarrassing to be put in production. I get a few errors are in every game, but the same errors and then new errors in areas they've done NO WORK in makes no sense.

The wishlist are always a waste of time because it should be filled with gameplay, playbook and navigation upgrades across the board.

Instead they will NOT pipe down the Beckum type of catches EVERY WR can make(even the crappy 60 OVR ones) along with so many other arcade like functionality.

Everyone talks about stick skills. That means arcade game.
Real football involves strategy like a chess match and this game does NOT have that.

When Madden stops wasting time and money on graphic upgrades/ultimate f***ing team and wishlist on graphics then maybe we will get a REAL football game from them that works as it should.

With current next gen advances how about a gameplan function that lists your next weeks opponents top ten plays? That way when you go into the week practice it actually feels like you're doing something other than waste 10 minutes churning through the same old crap week in week out! And it would stop opponents coming out in the same formations and running the same screen/toss plays that I've seen happen over the past few years.

Blocked FG,s! Please tell me the point in actually sending out a defense in these situations. I've NEVER seen one in all my days playing Madden.

Pointless attributes!!!

The crap where you're tackling the QB and just as he's on his arse he miraculously get the ball out for an incompletion.

Draft board for all those owners that can't make a draft. This is a must as for ages now we see teams that have the cpu picking for them draft a useless player.

Rookie pictures. There currently seems to be 10 players that crop up in every draft. Seriously EA! Lets get some more player photos please.

How about a weekly highlight reel and week review show as mentioned above. Stats and scores could be included along with MVP race, playoff picture and injuries.

How about having the option to have a certain CB match up against a certain WR without having to do it manually. Always a real pain in the ass!

The dreaded EA servers. I still can't believe i'm talking about this some 6/7 years later?!?
FFS, they can put a man in space to live on a f***ing spaceship but you can't get two people to connect and have a lagg free game for an hour. I sometimes believe that the servers that EA have are just a bunch of potatoes with some wires sticking out of them.

I used to love playing this game and would play it EVERY day but now its a chore to even load the fucker up, let alone play a game. It's become boring and that is something I'd never thought I'd say.

Alternatively, EA could get some competition with the whole 2k sports series. If its anything like the NBA games that both have produced over the past couple of years then I know where my money would go.

There is so much more that EA could do with regards to connected careers but while they make millions with ultimate team then we'll never get what we really want.

Done.

That is probably Donnie's longest post. Ever.

It reminds me of a political prisoner who hasn't been able to speak his mind and has suddenly been liberated and needed to let it all hang out.

Some good ideas though, yet I fear we are and the game will become ever-more arcade now. I've heard it said from those "in the know" that EA do next to no work on CCM and leave it to the CCM communities (in our case Tru, who is a one-man community) to tinker around with sliders and come up with a game that is just about playable. They can't be bothered to do it because as Donnie rightly says, they are too busy stuffing their pockets full of cash from the mugs who are prepared to spend more on the game on packs and similar steamingturd from MUT. It's all they care about and it's the case in FIFA and NHL too.

There does need to be some competition to Madden, if only to keep them on their toes and ahead of the game. Without comeptition EA has become complacent and thinks it can get away with introducing one or two new features each year in exchange for quietly removing one or two in return. It's as if there is a finite number of features that can be included in the game, but in any year only about 50% of what has been developed can be included, so every year, out go a couple of peceived "unpopular features" and in come a couple that are bigged up and the game promoted, as it is every year, as the "best Madden ever".

I haven't heard anything about Madden 17 yet but assume that will start to happen soon after the NFL draft.
