Racing Tips and Selections

Post by patriotscpfc on Thu 12 Nov 2015, 9:35 pm

Short intro: Basically, I used to write for a few of the local Papers about racing and gave advice and tips on a weekly basis.

Dawg has nagged me into posting some in here as I didn't have enough time to continue it. As well as that, I know Donnie has won a little bit on my selections as well.

I am off to Cheltenham for the weekend, so I thought I'd give my selections for tomorrow.

Cheltenham - Open Day 1

1.05 - La Vaticane (3/1). Pipe loves the Open meeting, this horse has the right profile and a low handicap mark to take advantage of.

1.40 - More of That (2/1). If he runs to his Hurdles mark, he will win this comfortably. AP McCoy was hugely looking forward to riding him over fences, and if he is fit and flying in his season debut, he should be able to take advantage of small field. As De Mee is a danger after already having a run, but the forecast rain may be a danger.

2.15 - Champers on Ice (5/2). Pipe/Scudamore love this horse. If the vibes are right, he should be good enough to defeat the Ferguson favourite first time out. Especially in receipt of 7lb and likely on ground that may not favour the favourite.

2.50 - Josie's Orders (4/1) and Bless The Wings (16/1) e/w. Bless The Wings is a live outsider who enjoyed the Cheltenham hill back in March. Josie's Orders enjoys Banks races and is low in the handicap for a great Cross-Country trainer with an expert on board in Nina Carberry.

3.25 - Dollar and a Dream (7/2) - NAP. Ruby Walsh flies over for 1 ride for Tony Martin. That sets bells ringing after Quick Jack took victory for the pit 2 years ago at this meeting. Very well handicapped for this race.

4.00 - Definite Ruby (8/1) - Ran well last month over the course and distance. Has a top amateur in JJ Codd on board. Seemed to enjoy the longer distance last time and should stay up the hill again.

Well done Paul.

The Ruby Walsh thing does look interesting. Well spotted.

2 winners, a 2nd and a 16/1 3rd yesterday...

Cheltenham - Day Two

12.40 - Romain de Senam - Tough race, but with rain expected, it would favour the Nicholls French recruit over Oceane who wants good ground.

1.15 - Un Temps Pour Tout (NAP) - wheelbarrow job. Blaklion needs further and not built like a chaser. UTPT has the best form in the race.

1.50 - Sausalito Sunrise e/w - Promising novice. Weirdly pulled up last time when in contention. Potentially, other horses in the race will be attempting to lower handicap marks for the Grand National.

2.25 - Kings Palace/Double Ross e/w - I've backed KP but I don't think he is much value at the price. Previous high quality early-season form at Cheltenham, but never seems to perform in big fields. Double Ross has Cheltenham form and is low in the weights with a good apprentice on board.

3.00 - Batavir e/w - Absolute plot job from David Pipe. Highly fancied for a Festival handicap but pulled out pre-festival. Owners have travelled over from Australia for the race.

3.35 - Tjongejonge e/w - Interesting runner on his UK debut, good price for the Johnson/Longsdon partnership that has done well throughout the summer.

4.05 - Snag List - Mullins doesn't send his horses over for no reason. Copper Kay has the best form, but this horse could be anything.
