The EAFL Site - New Features Needed!

Post by GBDawg1 on Fri 12 Jun 2015, 11:04 am

We want your ideas for new features that you would like to see appear on this site. At the moment, people use it for arranging games, the odd bit of chat here and there and not much else.

We still have the odd article in the EAFL News section, but we'd like to see more topics about anything - politics, other sports and some competitions, such as the Pick 6 we used to have that older members will probably remember. We might bring that back next season.

We are also thinking about a football scores prediction league; possibly something to do with horse racing; maybe some other sports too.

Anyone who has any ideas and wants to get involved, please post them in this thread. The committee will all be attending a week's intensive think tank in Hawaii, which is just done for the benefit of you, the esteemed membership, so any donations you would like to make to help fund this vital trip would of course be most appreciated.

Fantasy Football?  Where its Premier League or NFL?

The bring back of Pick 6 is a good idea, used to add a bit of fun to the site!

Donnie usually does a fantasy football thing. I was thinking of a score prediction league, where we pick X number of games each week through the English and Scottish leagues (not just Prem!) and people have to submit their predictions. 5 points for a correct score and 2 pts for a correct result and a couple of other possible modifications to that. Players compete in fixtures against each other: eg your predictions vs mine and apart from the points you score you would get 3 pts for a win and if it was a draw 1 pt each.

If anyone's interested in that then say so in this thread. We are also looking at a World Cup style tourney (Madden) after this season is finished. 8 groups of 4 teams randomly put together: top 2 in each division go through to a knock out.

I will put up a separate thread for that to see whether there is enough interest.

What about horse racing? Any decent tipsters out there in EAFL world? Perhaps start a column? A Saturday naps table? A baseball thread? Just chucking ideas out there.

I'll be honest, baseball. I don't get it!?!
I know some in here watch it but it bores the crap out of me and from the few games I've watched on the box even the fans in the stadium are half asleep.

I would love to see the "Monday Night".

A weekly game that MUST be streamed ( accordingly with the connections of players). Would be a great fun and woul not be a random decision.
I figure a calendar for the games to be broadcasted released once the schedule is out...

Too hard to realize?

Plus, i know i'm a romantic guy, but....

1) the YearBook.

I would love to see the face of the people that play here. This because i think this is more of a "play" league. I think this is a community. and To make it stronger, i think would be great to know more about the people that move the pad.

2) a TRUE chat. The chat we have is really old and doesn't allow, for example, the private messaging that make it a lot easier to talk about trades. New chat would mean, no more PM to talk about trades, faster and smoother way to arrange games and so on.

Mani:

You might recall that for a while we had photographic avatars, but not everyone put theirs up and eventually they disappeared.

With regards to the chat, I'm afraid we are governed by the limitations of the site. You can always tell someone in the chat you are going to pm them, do it and then tell them you have. In order to get what you are after we would have to move the forum to another host - and I am not about to do that.

Can you show me an example as that page just wants me to sign up and go ahead. I can't even see what it does.

Just sign up and follow the instruction, it will take 5 min. You need to do it, because it will need admin powers for the eafl site.

I don't want anything to have admin powers for the EAFL site. I am not comfortable with something else having admin powers for the site at all.

I can't even see what it looks like. It wants me to sign up, go ahead and install whatever it is. I am not doing that unless I see what it looks like first.

1. Misunderstood. I suggested YOU to sign up, because YOU have the admin power here so can copy and past the code they gave you to incorporate the chat. Nobody else will touch the site, unless you, George.

2. Go to to google, type spot.im and search images and you will see what's look like

3. Relax:D

Just going back on some old EAFL website stuff and I really like this idea.

Maybe we can use the 'Daddyleagues' 'Game Of The Week'???

Thoughts on this people........

Hi guys,

Not sure whether this ideas for here or not but before this league and the sml i briefly played in an american one. One of the things they ran was a scouting thread. Basically under the thread each team had their own sub thread. It was not compulsory to post in it but the general idea was (example i (detroit) played dawg (browns) i would write a quick scouting report of plays he run on offense , along the lines of uses crossing routes on 3rd and short and likes to hit his slot receiver, runs out the shotgun frequently etc, then the same on defense plays a lot of cover 2, blitzs on 3rd down, users the mlb etc). I found it useful to prefer against teams/coaches that you were not familiar with?

So over the season there would be 10-12 scouting reports from other coaches who had played detroit for people to read and make a game plan around?

Just a thought guys?
