CHEAT!! CHEAT!! haha!

So i've missed out on a higher draft pick?  Think i'll be sticking with McCarron for the season anyway, unless he flops and i'll move to Pruitts

Chimpy_Nuts wrote:id hardly call it cheating. if youve got money, spend it!

i do think it would be a good idea fir future seasons to have a guidline in place. maximum 4 year contract and  guaranteed money up to 1/3 if the salary offered

yeah its going to be something like this for FA and resigning players.

basicially the more years you offer the % of the deal has to be a bonus.

for max deals im thinking something along the lines of 5 years in year 1, 4 years in year 2 and 3 years in the years beyond.

A rule is defo required but would need to be simple. Some peeps struggle to work out percentages etc.

Need to be careful and make it crystal clear = less hassle.

Here what we did:

First, we tried with the percentage. But not worked out so well, because of many reason:
- was not easy to determine and calculate
- we discussed if was more fair to apply the percentage on an annual base or on the total request
and other more.

Then, we realized that there was, at least for us an easiest and fairest solution.

1. You can offer only the bonus the player ask
2. You can offer only the years the player ask
3. You can make the difference with your cap on the salary, that is free.

Ok, wait a minute. What avoid to see the monsters and ridiculous offers that we saw this year?
A little big thing. The rule that you MUST have 60 players after the draft in your roster.

This make almost impossible to see CRAZY offers. Because you have to fill the roster in many ways.
And make the players much more tradable or cutable once you decide to move on.
No percentage, no brainstorming.

We tested and it worked.

Just my two italian cents :-)

Mani, in your plan for free agency, does that mean that because you have 60 players on your roster then a lot of top end talent stays in free agency as nobody can afford them?

Donnie, for what we saw, this system provide a great balance between superstars signin and depht.  Surely the FA will be much more richer than in the past, but people who managed well their cap wil always be a chance to sign a superstar player from Free Agency.

It's not that simple though. The fact is that players will inherit cap "situations" at the start of a Madden series over which they have no control, based on what the team did in RL. And of course, owing to the fact that Madden does not always reflect RL in terms of players' abilities, it could put some of those teams at a disadvantage.

We need to consider this issue very carefully ad not rush into decisions that we later find won't work or will just annoy people.
