FA cheating

Post by DZUBA on Fri 15 May 2015, 9:07 am

I'll describe my situation. From the first season of this Madden, I've got 30-40M free space in my cap and every offseason I've tried to sign QB. I always trying to make fair play offers to FAs, bonuses are near half of total offer, but I always were avoided by abnormal proposals with ridiculous contracts terms, which players didn't ask and which we won't play in this Madden.
For example, last season Nick Foles asked two year contract. OK, I've made higher offer than he want for 2 years and with near 45% bonus, but he was signed for: Contract: $72.00M / 4 Years $22.48M Signing Bonus. WTF? For the first two seasons, which we gonna play, he won't get even a 40% of his salary by this contract.
At this offseason Drew Brees asked for 1 year deal and ~22M contract. I've offered him 1 year deal with 17M basic salary and 13M bonus - totally 30M for one year. But I was beat by ridiculous contract Contract: $80.00M / 4 Years $55.48M Signing Bonus. 4 year contract for 38 years old QB who asked only 1 year contract! In his first contract year and our last Madden15's season he gonna receive only ~23M of his money.

Where is FA fair play? We should do something with this situation, cause one of the most interesting management parts of this game is totally f****d up.

Fully agree, but this has been happening for years now mate.

FA has never been completely fair as some take it a little far with contract offers and offer stupid contracts, like 4 year deals to 38 yr olds! (disappointed Bap!)

Something does need to be done!

Still mate, its a little wrong, even you have to admit that? hes 38, it should have been a battle of one year deals really.

I have no doubt this isnt the only case of this happening this year so i'm not having a go at you mate, you did what u needed to do but something needs to happen to stop this going forward...even if its taking a draft pick away or some sort of punishment

So what? You think you're the only one who cleaned the cap space for QB?
What prevented to offer one-year contract?

+1 to first post in topic.
I like Tru offer about setting % of guarantee money but it's first - its not applied right now (correct me if I'm wrong) and second - appeared to be not enough. Some internal rules might be additionally needed in M16.

I had 40m of cap space, if we were going to play "dirty" i could have offered him massive money on a long term deal! Its just about being fair mate ... thats a little wrong and rules need to be in place

I don't see how having $45 million plus in cap space (33% with all my penalties) tied up in my two QBs is cheating really, I had to clear a lot of talent to get enough cap space

As Del said, this has been going on for years. It's too late for this Madden series and although Bap is getting stick here, plenty of others have done similar things.

We will talk about it in the off season after season 4 and then come up with a policy, based around Tru's earlier suggestions in time for Madden 16.

I honestly thought we couldn't offer 'more than the term requested'. Did i not read that somewhere?

I agree with Dzuba (i suspect most of the league would). Bap has made a judgement error here, especially being on the committee too.

There is a real simple solution - coaches CANNOT offer more than the length requested by the player. Simple. Believe me, if someone then did 'over-offer' it would be spotted straight away.

Shame on you Falcons, hope he breaks his walking stick ........

ive seen much much much much worse lol.

yes this madden nothing will happen but next madden I will be putting in rules for FA bidding and player resigning.

ive also seen some ridiculous contracts handed out when resigning players with people handing out 6 and 7 year deals for players that have no business landing such deals.

there will be rules for this in the next madden , you can bet on it.

I'd appreciate people stopping calling out Bap in this thread. Any more and I shall lock it.

Bap has become the fall guy for others' past shenanigans in this respect. And some others have made errors of judgement too - not necessarily in FA bidding but perhaps in gameplay situations, where they have done things they shouldn't have. Perhaps they should consider this before throwing stones from their glass houses.

I'm only perturbed because i couldn't beat him BEFORE he got Brees!!!

id hardly call it cheating. if youve got money, spend it!

i do think it would be a good idea fir future seasons to have a guidline in place. maximum 4 year contract and  guaranteed money up to 1/3 if the salary offered

I haven't taken personal offends from the majority of people in this thread, but I still don't see what the huge problem is in what I offered him. I had the money, I cut Trent Cole, Paul Soliai, Santonio Holmes, Will Blackmon (all starters), Chris Houston and Darren McFadden to make cap space... my team's best chance of winning is with a top QB, so I went out and got one. If I hadn't, I'd have most likely upped my offer for AJ McCarron! lol
