Organising Games

Post by GBDawg1 on Tue 21 Jan 2014, 4:45 pm

I have been made aware of a few owners disappearing from time to time and not answering pm's, posts in the matchups threads and so on. I realise that life gets in the way of Madden from time to time and although 2 games a week doesn't sound much, at times it can be impossible. However, I don't have the time to wipe people's behinds and so if you are under pressure at work, have to go away suddenly or whatever it might be, please put yourself on AP and notify your opponent(s) that you have done so. It's hard to believe that someone wouldn't have time to do this as it takes a few seconds.

I should not be getting messages from owners asking could I put so-and-so on AP because he hasn't responded to messages or has gone on holiday or whatever.

I've said before that I won't put people on AP, but of course I have done so (assuming I'm around, which I am not always). As from next season, anyone disappearing/not answering messages/not putting themselves on AP if they can't play will get a strike.

Communication is key.

Haha know what you mean its tough organizing games in the NFC East (Cowboys excluded of course)  Razz

I hate how games get arranged, its not that difficult to just post what times you can play in the original post and then the opponent can choose one to suit them and post that time. EASY. Usually its "What time can you play" followed i can play (insert day and time)" followed by "I can't play then" aaarrrrrghhh drives me mad  Twisted Evil It leaves you constantly having to check the thread.

I am getting to the point now where if you can't beat them join them !!!!!

I have noted that once again things seem to be on the slide in arranging games. I know we have just been through a difficult period over Christmas and New Year and when you have extended family all over the place it's difficult. I felt I spent half the festive season in the car.

Anyway, now that's all out of the way for another year, I don't expect people to have to constantly check the matchups thread and chase people for answers, together with sending pms, psms or whatever else.

What I do ask is this: if you are going to be absent for one or more Madden weeks, then please:

1) put yourself on AP
2) notify your opponent(s) that they will be playing the cpu
3) notify me that you have done (1) and (2).

Also, another request: if your game is going to be simmed (for whatever reason) then please let me know that too. Reason: it sometimes enables me to advance early.

There have been some complaints about organising games again.

You can organise your games 3 ways:

In the matchups thread (preferred)
By pm on this site
By psm (not recommended)

Let's try to avoid the Ping-Pong of haggling over a time.

Here is the textbook way of how to do it:

bigjimmyaston George, I can play after the advance tomorrow night or Wednesday anytime from 6 or Thursday anytime after 6 or Friday anytime after 8 or Saturday anytime (depending on jobs list from wife)

So please follow this lead. If you post first, give your availability and then let the opponent choose which option works for them. It should mean things move a lot more smoothly, except for those who either don't read this post or choose to ignore it.

Re: Organising Games

As we now in season 4, I sense a certain amount of apathy from certain players.

What I'm talking about is people who can't be bothered to arrange their games, or give next to no options to their opponents, and can't even take the trouble to put themselves on AP.

I have had many requests already this season asking me to put "so-and-so" on AP and I'm getting a little fed up with it.

Also, a reminder to those who have forgotten or haven't read the rules properly in the first place, the advance is on Tuesdays and Saturdays during the regular season at 2200 UK time. I don't mind it being up to 15 mins late, but there is no excuse for it, especially on the 4 day weeks.

Please don't leave your games until the last minute.

Please read the post 3 before this.

I am fed up with people asking (and I am guilty myself on occasions) questions such as "When's good?" only for the opponent to respond and then get a reply back saying "Oh no, I can't do then. I can only do between 7:00 and 7:01 pm on Pancake Tuesday". If you know when you can play, say so in the first place, rather than ending up with Ping-Pong messaging.
