Have to say the AFCC game last night only made last week's loss  all the more bitter. Whilst Seattle would've kilt us in Phoenix, I think we'd have got there.

This nonsense about the Pats deflating footballs p*** me off though. They really will stoop to anything. MMQB's Greg Bedard tweeted during the game that when they ran the ineligible receiver plays, there was 18 seconds between announcement and snap. Versus the Ravens it was 10, 5 and 4 seconds...

Yup, definitely still bitter!

Well, I lived through "The Drive" and "The Fumble".

Now we have "The Fake Field Goal" and "The Onside Kick". I guess at least my two were in different games (same opponents though both times).

I feel the pain. Been there, done that.

It was a commedy of errors dawg. This s*** isn't suyppose to all happen in the same game, you could have named each indevidual game after each of these plays. You have the 3rd and 19 play, fake FG, onside kick, 2 point hailmerry, the 3rd and 6 in OT, the dropped Haha pick 6, the Burnett decision to go down when he had nothing but green in front of him. If just one of those plays happen differently we win the game. It's like they had devine intervention, God must hate us, or really love them.

The incident regarding the kick off ball is something completely different to what's currently being investigated Matty.

Do you not find it odd that's it's ALWAYS the Patriots that seem to be involved in controversy. You never hear any allegations regarding other teams on such a frequent occurrence.

It seems to me(and most of the planet) that the Patriots will do pretty much anything to achieve glory. Look at the past 10 or so years, you can count a handful of allegations or rule bend/breaks involving them.

Now, if they do indeed lose draft picks for this latest infraction then surely it means that they knew the balls were deflated which is not good for the NFL.
I think fans and teams have a right to feel bitter Matty, because it happens so often.

Still, it's done now and I have to look forward to the two teams I currently detest the most facing off in the Superbowl. I won't be watching that one I can tell you.

The question is: did it affect the result even if it turns out to be true? I don't think so, given the score.

Not a fan of either team myself. Are the Patriots the best team in the AFC? probably. Are the Seahawks the best team in the NFC? I doubt it.

I'll be rooting for the Patriots on this occasion.

Jesus, it's gonna be a question of whether you'd like to be kicked in the balls or in the face. Either one is going to hurt.

To be honest, whether or not it had an impact on the result is irrelevant. If they sought to gain an unfair advantage outside the rules then they should be punished accordingly. Again.

Donnie's right, they really do seem to be involved in a lot of things and they veer widely over the line of gamesmanship in their rule book exploits. Look at how smug Brady was when he said the Ravens should read the rule book after the Divsional game. It's just exploiting as opposed to 'our 11 versus your 11' and seeing who plays better.

Maybe i'm too old fashioned but 'gaining an advantage' is all part of ANY level of sport. Leaving a pile of sh*t in the opponents dressing room, jawing at refs during a game, fergie time - all examples of gaining an edge that we all accept. Naturally, blatant cheating is unacceptable, but 'gaining an advantage' is not only ok but in many ways enhances the whole sports world.

The founder of the NFL, Papa Bear, would deflate the goal posts if he thought it would help!

Problem i have why it come to attention now,we played all year with bad weather no questions .

Think it was one ball taken out right, plus refs hold the ball and should know if it was deflated.

Why patriots because its a easy target since spygate.

Is there any proof of this? Or is it just hearsay?

As Matty says, the referees handle the game balls all the time. Before and after every play. So if they thought the balls were flat, you'd have thought they would have said something.

According to a person familiar with the background of the matter, the Colts first noticed something unusual after an interception by Colts linebacker D’Qwell Jackson in the second quarter. Jackson gave the ball to a member of the Colts' equipment staff, who noticed the ball seemed underinflated and then notified coach Chuck Pagano.
General manager Ryan Grigson was notified in the press box, and he contacted Mike Kensil, NFL director of football operations. Kensil then told the on-field officials at halftime, when the Patriots led 17-7. The Patriots erupted for 21 points in the third quarter, although it is not known if any of the balls were improperly inflated after halftime.
It wasnt just the kicking ball. Meaning Brady was throwing balls that were deflated in the rain. Maybe to grip the ball better. Which in my mind may or may not have impacted the game. But This reminds me of The Baseball Pitcher who was using Pine Tar On his Hands so he could grip the ball batter So he could throw a better Curve ball and Splitter... Who's to say how Brady would have played with a inflated ball in the rain

In other news, Andy Dalton has been called up for the Pro Bowl. Apparently Flacco declined as his wife is due to give birth this month.

Yes, Dalton. I'm fairly sure if anyone else pulls out I'll be getting a phone call at this rate...

I was proud of Matt Ryan getting a call-up earlier this morning, but then hearing Dalton made it... half the QBs in the league must have made this pro bowl

In fact Bap, you are correct. Each team plays with their own set of footballs.... Each team has their own game balls... SO yes Andrew Luck was playing with a different ball

I am a Colts fan we all no this. But Im not saying we would have won if it wasnt for the ball. We was blown out on both sides of the ball regardless.  It was an old fashion ass whoopin. Im just saying the game may have looked a little different. The kicking ball that was muffed by Cribbs. that allowed Pats to go up 14-0. or with a correctly inflated ball. Maybe Brady dont shred the Defense as well as he did. I think the big deal here is the unknown. The What If Factor.... If found they did break the rules. They will get punished with Draft Picks and Fines. But worst If they win the SB. It will have a bit of Tarnish on it...
