you need to maintain control through the catch though when going to the ground.

its hard to say he took a dive because it seemed more like it was just momentum of making a jumping catch.

he did not make a football move after he came down.

its a very close call

It looked like he did to me. Additionally, given that the catch was ruled complete and challenged, shouldn't they have had to prove beyond reasonable doubt that it WASN'T a football move in order to overturn it?

Yes they should. But that's when the home teams tend to get their little advantages.

Anyway, I have no idea what you are talking about. I thought the season was over?

Without being too anti-Pack there's a few interesting things going on here. Green Bay are one of the leagues favoured teams when it comes to refs, no argument about that. But, to clear things up and try to remove the ambiguity, the refs botched the call. Rule below:-

“If a player goes to the ground in the act of catching a pass (with or without contact by an opponent), he must maintain control of the ball throughout the process of contacting the ground, whether in the field of play or the end zone. If he loses control of the ball, and the ball touches the ground before he regains control, the pass is incomplete. If he regains control prior to the ball touching the ground, the pass is complete.”

1) Quite simply, Dez Bryant clearly had control of the ball BEFORE he stretched out his arm and the ground caused the fumble. As for a football move, i think 3 steps forwards with the ball under his control is plenty good as after securing the catch he then held the ball with one hand. Just like Calvin Johnson against the Bears when this rule came into effect.
2) "maintain control of the ball throughout the process of contacting the ground". This refers to 'making the catch and going to ground in the same movement. If Bryant had just fell to the ground we wouldn't be having this discussion. However, he did not and tried to advance to the goalline.

The refs called it right first time. BY THE RULES. And quite often in sport, the judgement of the fans is often indicative of the truth - i doubt any football fan agrees with the call being reversed. (But hey, it was in Green Bay you know).

However, as another team who are 'league friendly' has unfairly been the recipient of an awful rule, i'm sure it will be changed for next season.

I couldn't be more distant from your toughts Bish.  All the refs in the football world told that, by the rule, it's a right call, despite close.
We can discuss is it's a good or bad rule, but once is in the book, the refs have to make respect it. Honestly i will be happy if they change it, because i can understand how the 'Boys fans feel.

p.s.: The most comic part of the script, anyway, it's the lead.
line 1: Without being too anti-Pack there's a few interesting things going on here.
lines 2, just around the corner: Green Bay are one of the leagues favoured teams when it comes to refs, no argument about that. Fail Mary, anyone?

let's enjoy the football, guys, without talking about it like "our" football.

Come on Mani, let's not be pedantic. It's ok to be biased to your team, most fans are - but very bad form if you lie to yourself.

you might wanna look  up what is considerd a catch.

im 110% sure you need to get both feet down inbound first before its considerd a catch and if you get both feet down and you are on your way to  the ground you must maintain control all the way.
after you get both feet down and your not on your way down , then you can start making a football move.

I did not see him get 2 feet down and take 3 extra steps lol.

the 3 steps everyone saw where him trying to establish the catch with momentum taking him to the ground.
he got both feet down but once he hit the ground he lost control for a moment.

its a dumb rule but its the rule.
pretty similar to calvin Johnson against the bears years ago.

Anyone got any popcorn?

Stang baiting aside, I was openlyt rooting for GB there, but as little as Seattle deserved to win, GB really deserved to lose. Awful 2 point conversion to concede, went away from what worked so well, badly mismanaged the final drive leaving 2 time outs on the board and as for the slide after the 4th pick with an open field ahead and 5mins to go... words fail me.

I'd love to know what sound is made when the ball hits a helmet, first Bostick, then Cribbs v Pats. I reckon inside the helmet it must be something like being hit with Vic Reeves frying pan!

Right first of all, unlucky colts. Im huge fan of luck and his time will come.

We are underdogs, defence has been impressive fact mayo who is a the heart of the defence. Hightower and collins have done great and should be proud no matter what.

If there a team can dethrone its BB and pats, and brady needs to be perfect and not force it when something else is working.

Packers had it,dont think BB would allow that to slip.

So im just going to enjoy it and hope we win,as everyone going to put us underdogs
