Rosters - Owners' Responsibilities

Post by GBDawg1 on Tue 02 Feb 2010, 10:50 pm

It is up to each owner to ensure that he has adequate coverage in each position. "Needs" must be addressed before "wants". Players have 7 draft picks; 3 veteran free agency picks (before week Cool and 2 UDFA picks (season 2 onwards). That ought to be enough to cover any positions where there are needs.

Failing to look after your requirements is abusing the spirit of the league, so please ensure your roster requirements are taken care of.

didn´t know where to put this. i just wanted to let you know that i had to temporarily release my backup FB frank summers to get to the 53 man roster, because i couldn´t connect with monkey. i signed him up again after the game.

As the draft will soon be upon us, may I remind all owners of their responsibility when drafting their players.

"Needs" must be addressed before "Wants". If anyone comes to us saying that they haven't got enough players at a certain position post-draft, then they won't get a warm reception. What will happen is that we will allocate the lowest OVR player at their position(s) of need and BOTH their FA picks will be forfeited.

If this happens in more than one position then they will most likely get a ban into the bargain.

Don't say you haven't been warned.

Just a little question, what will happen to those people who cant make the draft (like me) ? If the CPU picks for you and leaves holes in your roster it could cause potential problems. Pretty certain it wont happen to me because i will have enough players at every position pre-draft but could cause problems for some others.

CPU picking for you will if anything massively over compensate positions you are short on. So if you have 1 rb expect them to pick up at least 2 for you

I build my team by taking the best players regardless  of position. That's the best way to build teams imo. I don't expect it to be a problem though, as I will most likely use free agency to address my needs.

LOL Ted Thompson ALWAYS drafts best player available. Why do you think teams like the Jags have sucked for so long? Because they over draft for need *cough* Gabbert *cough*

pre season roster allows you to have up to 75 players.
there should be enough time after the draft till we reach week 1 regular season sto cut your roster down to 53.

I've noticed quite a few teams with low 30's of players for a 53 man roster. I'm sure I've read this before but I thought there was a minimum limit?

2) Next season there will be a minimum roster requirement, to go with the maximum of 53. It will be set somewhere between 45-50 players. For now, it would be preferred if a minimum of 45 were kept on rosters. Lower than this is abusing the cap system.

It's in Daddyleagues - front office/breakdown.

Teams needing surgery:

SF - 39
CHI - 35
SD - 39
PHI - 34
DAL - 39
NYG - 33
NYJ - 36
GB - 32
CAR - 37
STL - 34

FYI JAX are on 40.

We will be bringing in a minimum roster rule. There isn't one yet but really there shouldn't be anyone on fewer than about 47 players.
Max is 53 although this can be exceeded through the draft.

Have to take in mind, The average team gets 7 picks in the draft and 3 FA pick ups. So add a minimum of 10 players to each of those.

Surely not - Bears (in the NFL) would have ended up last season with 30 players

I am not in the habit of proposing stuff as most 'suggestions' cause more admin work - but this needs looking at? It's bad enough losing important players to injury but not being able to replace them (as per NFL) is plain wrong.

Did Donnie just have to 'suck it' last season when half his team went down with cholera?

yup lol.

you get 3 picks in case of an emergency.
should be enough.

it will keep the early birds from stacking the roster with needless signings....

Understand that, amd agree should be enough - just wondered about late season injury scenarios.

On a diff subject - has the roster limit been set now?
