Group Challenge

Post by flashmore on Thu 22 Nov 2012, 8:28 pm

Anyone up for doing a group challenge? Like a £10 to £100?

Basically, we'd attempt to turn £10 into £100 in a few bets. We could post what we think our bet of the day is and then do a vote on which one we think is most likely to win and use that as our bet. If we try to pick something we think is a nailed on winner (like Man U to beat Norwich! lol. That result lost me a few quid) with odds of around 1/2 then it'll take us around 7 winning bets to get to our target.

Here's an example of our progress if we used bets that are all 1/2.

Bet 1 - £10
Bet 2 - £15
Bet 3 - £22.50
Bet 4 - £33.75
Bet 5 - £50.62
Bet 6 - £75.93
Bet 7 - £113.90

What's everyones thoughts? Anyone up for doing this? We don't necessarily have to start with £10. If people wanna do it for a bit of fun with less money at stake we could start with £1 and work to £10.

Are you talking about horses or football? Problem with horses is that everyone would need to get their head in the form book each morning and work and suchlike gets in the way.

Any sport Dawg. I'm guessing NFL & Football is what we'd have the best knowledge of as a group though.

If anyone is up for starting today then my vote would be for a Dinamo Bucuresti win in the Romanian League tonight. Their opposition are missing 7 starters due to injury and suspensions so it should be a routine win for the home side.

If anyone else has a suggestion for tonight, post it here and we can decide on the best option as a team. Smile

If people would rather wait until tonorrow for the first bet when there's a more familiar line up of games, then we can wait.

Hadn't we better sort out how money gets transferred around first? I assume you are going to be treasurer Flash?

I wouldn't even know where to start with that Dawg. It'd probably be easier if people just do it on their individual account with their chosen bookmaker. My idea was to just chose the bets we use for it as a group (as there may be someone who spots a potential gem that others don't notice) and then place that bet on our own account. Also, by doing it that way, each person can decide on what their own goal is, ie, 10p-£1, £1-£10, £2-£20, £5-£50 etc.

Did anyone get on this? They won 2-1. I had a tenner on it for £16.66 return. I'm gonna put that £16.66 on something today. At the moment, I like either:

Everton over 0.5 cards - recieved at least a card in 10 out of 12 premier league games this season, and todays referee has averaged 3.8 cards per game.

Middlesbrough win - Bristol City have lost 4 in a row and Middlesbrough should be too strong for them at the Riverside.

Anyone else have a suggestion for some decent bets for today?

As we seem to be talking football, I like the following:

Lg 1
Coventry to beat Portsmouth - Pompey been in freefall
Walsall to beat Hartlepool - rock bottom 'Pools have a new manager but nothing changed so far

Lg 2
Southend to see off Rochdale

And a bit of a shock: Accrington (3/1) to beat Gillingham

I like the Coventry win too Dawg. A friend of a friend who knows a pompey player said about 4 weeks ago he reckons they will get relegated this season. Wish I'd had a bet back the as the odds have probably dropped a fair bit since then.

It will depend on a couple of things:

1) That the Trust win the court case which is scheduled for mid-December and can then complete the takeover of the club

2) Whether the league goes ahead with a 10 point deduction for them exiting administration

3) Who they are able to appoint as the new manager and what deals they can conclude in January.

If I wasn't a Palace fan, 6/4 on Palace at Leeds is ridiculous odds. This is the best Palace team i've ever seen, despite the media attempting to make out we're a 1 man team.
