No Shows

Post by GBDawg1 on Mon 27 Sep 2010, 9:15 pm

We seem to be having a few problems with "no shows" again. This is very irritating for the owner who waits patiently for the other owner to show up to play the game: it's disrespectful and people have better things to do with their time.

I do realise that things happen that mean people can't always make their games, but the least people can do (assuming they are able to get to a pc or onto their ps3 before the appointed time) would be to send a message to their opponent advising them that they are not going to be able to make it.

In future, the procedure will be:

1. If an owner doesn't show up and hasn't notified his opponent, he will be placed on AP (assuming I'm around) so that his opponent can play the cpu. He can then take his team off AP afterwards.
2. A player will be deemed to be a "no show" if he is 20 minutes (or more) late for the appointed start time.
3. In order that we know what the appointed time is/was, once 2 players have agreed a time for their game, it must be posted in that week's matchups thread. If you don't post the time/day then it won't be recognised as an "official" start time. We have no way of determinining it if it's just one player's word against the other's.
4. The player who did turn up can (if he wishes) choose to reschedule the game (if there's time) or have it simmed.

Sorry to have to take such draconian steps, but people do have lives away from Madden.

Can owners please ensure that they are available to play their games when a time and date has been scheduled. Week 6 has seen two instancies where one owner was waiting over an hour and the other waited over an hour and a half before contacting me.

I understand that there are times when you become tied up in something and can't make your game. Unfortunately, thats hard luck. Harsh I know, but to have somebody waiting around for over an hour isn't fair on that owner.

As pointed out above, can all owners please use the weekly schedule thread to arrange games and post an agreed time when both of you can play.

Thank you for your co-operation

Unfortunately, no shows have reared their ugly head again this season.

It's not acceptable to keep people hanging around when you have scheduled your game for a certain time. Please see the top post in this thread. In a nutshell, the rule is this:

If someone turns up in excess of 20 minutes later than the scheduled start time, then the waiting opponent can ask for you to go on AP and play the cpu if they so wish.

The reason we prefer game arrangements to be made in the weekly matchups thread is so they are visible to all and there can therefore be no argument over the scheduled start time.

Repeat offenders will face sanctions (Warnings and/or bans).

Just a reminder again regarding this; because it's a problem that hasn't gone away.

Here we go again with no shows.

I realise that stuff happens from time to time but it's regrettable when people can't spare the time to notify their opponent when they have an arrangement to play.

The rule is 20 minutes from scheduled start time. After that, the player waiting has the right to request that the opponent be put on AP.

We will enforce it and if we get the same player offending repeatedly will consider further sanctions.

I'm not interested in excuses or people who claim to have got confused about time zones. It's no fun hanging around waiting for someone to show up. We all have other things to do.
